Building an agile mindset to support business opportunity development

117 delegates, 13 speakers and 9 emerging leader facilitators set the scene of our Asia Pacific conference 2020:

Tim Egold of Dale Carnegie opened the conference with his high energy and thought-provoking premise – there has never been a more important time in recent history for your business to be more agile. While some companies are collapsing under the strain of the pandemic – others are flourishing. What have they done that has enabled them to adapt and thrive so quickly? Our emerging leaders from Villaruz and Villaruz and Mehra Goel led our break-out discussions to determine what culture, skills and mindset are necessary in this agile world.

Our own Morison KSi firms showcased their agility. Greg Hayes (Hayes Knight), Tony Sangthammarat (P.S. Accounting) and Normita Villaruz (Villaruz & Villaruz & Co CPAa) demonstrated that by reacting quickly and supporting clients effectively in a crisis it is possible to increase the ‘reciprocity factor’ and with lateral thinking and a strategic mindset you can open up new opportunities by considering new markets and new service lines.

Our panel discussion on Sustaining Business in a Post Pandemic Era was aptly facilitated by Eddie Chan (CWCC). The positive outcomes, identified by Shahnkar Raman (B.K. Khare), Jenny Wong (Leebridge) and Stella Tang (Jonten CPA) were that their firms are now more digitally prepared, proactive, more efficient, considerate of health and safety issues including mental health and well-being of employees.

Vaibhav Jain (Mehra Goel) and Afwaz Alkuzam (Alkuzam) impressed us with how they have increased business opportunities using social media. They demonstrated that through LinkedIn and Instagram it is possible to expand your client base and maintain connections in an effective and efficient way.

Finally, our technical experts took to the stage and through separate discussions helped support our learning on these critical topics:

Magdalene Ang (R Chan & Associates): Financial Crime Compliance Challenges in a Covid-19 World and enhancing confidence post Covid-19

Harsh Bhuta (Bhuta Shah): Due Diligence Impact due to Covid -19 Disruption

Sachin Vasudeva (SCV & Co):BEPS Action Plan 1 – Addressing the Tax Challenges of the Digital Economy

Wei Han Wan (Paul Wan & Co): A case study: Using UiPath Technology to Improve Audit Efficiency

All members will be able to see films of the plenary sessions and have access to all slides through The Community, Morison KSi’s new meeting place.
