Toronto conference celebrates member collaboration and encourages members to embrace change

Member strengths and successes were showcased during the Morison KSi North American Conference held on 17-19 June in Toronto, Canada, where firms discussed how welcoming changes in the profession enables them to succeed.

Showcasing members
The conference focused on how members are working together in a variety of ways to further enhance their ability to service clients and on sharing experience and expertise on overcoming the most common challenges within the profession, whilst embracing the most common opportunities.

Embracing change
Tommye Barie, recognised as one of the 100 most influential people in the accounting profession and former Chair of the Board of the American Institute of CPAs, delivered a keynote which provoked conversation about embracing technological and talent disruption to transform CPA firms.

The conference was also joined by Jennifer Gervès-Keen, named in 2018 and again in 2019 by CEO Today Magazine as one of the top 100 outstanding consultancy experts across the globe, as a speaker and facilitator. Jennifer closed the conference by drawing on conversations had during the conference, and how it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a growing need for those in the profession to transition from being a technical accountant to a trusted adviser.

The event also allowed for plenty of opportunities for networking, including dinner in the stylish Yorkville restaurant, Sassafraz, and a trip to the spectacular Niagara Falls – where the delegates were not afraid to get wet!

Morison KSi would like to thank the two host firms, McCarney Group and Sloan Partners, for their excellent support and assistance in making this a memorable conference.

Thanks also to all speakers and panellists for inspiring lively discussions, and to all participants for taking time out of the office to attend and contribute to this successful event.
